Not to be confused with New York State, New York City is the most populor city in the United States, with the majority of it not actually attached to the mainland. It is often cited as the city with the largest foreign-born population with almost 40% of its 8.8 million residents falling under this category, making it a true melting pot. The five boroughs that make up the city are Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island, with most tourists heading for Manhattan boasting the iconic scenery from the movies like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. At the end of October the Big Apple also plays host to the largest Halloween festival in the world.
